New Burnaby Advisor
by Dolly Anne on Jun.04, 2009, under Notices
We are proud to announce that we have a new advisor at our Burnaby campus! The reason for the excitement of our new advisor is because Colin is a Sprott Shaw Degree Graduate of 2008 with a concentration in Marketing! I asked Colin why he chose Sprott Shaw, he told me that the small classes are very appealing and the fact you can finish your 4 year degree in 3 years! Colin enjoyed the program and believes in it so much decided to work with Sprott Shaw in order to spread the news of our Degree programs. He is the perfect candidate since he has first hand experience within our degree program and if you want in depth details regarding our Bachelor of Business Administration; Colin’s the guy to talk too!! Congrats Colin, we wish you all the best!!

Four International Students Starting in our BBA
by Dolly Anne on Apr.24, 2009, under Notices, Programs
Some exciting news from the Burnaby campus! In the beginning of April we had 4 international students starting our BBA (Bachelor’s of Business Administration). They came from the Jordanian Canadian College (Sprott Shaw’s campus in Jordan).
I had a chance to speak to one of the international students Amir. Amir who seemed a little shy was very willing to answer my questions. I asked Amir how he likes Canada, he said he enjoys Canada; and that it is very beautiful! Amir also likes how the Burnaby campus is run even comparing it to a family like atmosphere. Due to the small class sizes, because of the small class sizes you are able to really build a bond with the staff and students.
Our BBA is the first Degree program offered at Sprott Shaw! The program is designed for students choosing a rigorous, technically based business degree comparable in content to other bachelor degrees in Canada. In our BBA you can pick between two concentrations; Marketing & Human Resource Management. The BBA degree program is 120 credits, s0 four years. However with how our Degree at Sprott Shaw is structured it is possible to finish our Degree in less than four years!

Burnaby Campus Resume Building Workshop
by Dolly Anne on Apr.20, 2009, under Events

Dean of Campus Tess with presenter
On Tuesday April 14, the Burnaby Campus held a Resume Building Workshop, which was offered by SunLife. Students were given pointers on how to create professional looking resumes.
Having a professional looking resume is very important, your resume can make or break whether you receive an interview or not. Having a resume workshop is great idea. Most students do not realize the importance of having a good up to date resume or cover letter.
During the workshop students had a chance to do a “mock interview”. Mock interviews were a great way for students to critique each other and give pointers on what and how they can improve their skills. Becoming successful in an interview is a skill; once you achieve that skill then your possibilities are endless!
The workshop was a success!! Good job!
