ECE Graduates Needed!!!
by Fox on Jun.22, 2009, under Press, Programs
Recently one of our Marketing reps Yolanda, received an e-mail regarding Early Childhood Education (ECE) graduates.
Currently Quarterway Child Care is looking for ECE graduates. They need to hire at least 3 new early child care educators this year! Quarterway Child Care is not the only employer looking to hire ECE students, many other employers are looking to hire ECE graduates as well.
Sprott Shaw is an approved College with the Early Childhood Education registry. Sprott Shaw’s Early Childhood Education program is less than 1 year long! The average starting wage for an Early Chidhood Educator is approximately $15.00 a hour with benefits! Which is great in my opinion, especially for a program which does not take you a full year to complete and there is always room to move up in positions.
We currently have the Early Childhood Education program at our Duncan campus!!
If you are a ECE graduate currently looking for employment in the Nanaimo area (or are willing to relocate) and are interested in the ECE position at Quarterway Child Care (250) 740 – 2599 or by e-mail quarterwaychildcare@shaw.ca
If you are interested in taking our ECE or any other of our great programs call 310 HIRE or http://sprottshaw.com/

Maligayang bati Sprott Shaw
by Fox on Jun.10, 2009, under Campus News, Press, Programs
Last year Sprott Shaw opened its first campus in the Philippines in partnership with the Far Eastern University in Moyrata, Manila. To date their are over 130 students attending Sprott Shaw’s RCA health program. Upon the last visit to the Philippines in March 2009, the campus received more computers, LCD projectors, additional Internet connections and of course the Sprott Shaw job bell to hang on the wall, not to mention a couple of goodies for the students.
On April 23, 2009 it was Sprott Shaw’s 106th birthday and the campus in the Philippines celebrated Sprott Shaw’s birthday with contests and games with the Far Eastern University staff and two extremely large cakes!! The campus was able to feed five other departments within the Far Eastern University! How big was this cake… makes me wonder!
The students absolutely love the program and the Canadian style of teaching in the classroom! The first set of RCA students have finished their clinical with GREAT reviews; well they are SSCC students! A clinical is when they go to hospitals under supervision and get hands on work/practise; basically a practicum. The next class heads out to do their first clinical in Manila this month!! We at Sprott Shaw wish you all the best!
To all the instructors and staff in the Philippines keep up the hard work, you have made the campus great!! Maraming salamat sa iyo ang lahat ng!
Hopefully I will come down to visit
Stayed tuned for more information regarding additional programs launching in the Philippines and the newest Sprott Shaw campus opening in Quezon City!!

ABME Fab T-shirt Pitch
by Fox on Jun.08, 2009, under Programs
Two of the Nanaimo campuses ABME (Advanced Business Management & E-commerce) students were ripping through a fabulous t-shirt pitch. How great would it be to have a travel t-shirt with various signs (knife and fork which would mean food) which can be used universally to get what you need without talking. It could be helpful for people who uses signs to communicate basic needs. These two students could be onto something! Great idea!!
The ABME program is a great way to develop marking plans for new and existing businesses as well as effective business communication skills to prepare a company for entry into a exciting field of E-commerce. The combination of business management and E-commerce is an exceptional skill-set to have if you are interested in developing a cutting edge career.
