Kamloops Graduation
by Fox on Apr.27, 2009, under Campus News, Events
On Tuesday April 28 more than 45 students will be receiving their diplomas and certificates. Graduates are being recognized in all the major programs such as Practical Nursing, Administrative Assistants, Legal Secretary, Community Support Worker, Spa Body Therapy and Kamloop campus’ very first Early Childhood Educators program.
It is always such a great evening and judging by the more than 300 guests invited by the graduates, it is such an important milestone in these students life! You can feel the excitement and anticipation in the air, finally all those months of hard work comes down to this one night where the students are recognized for their great accomplishment. Even though you can feel the excitement there is also a bit of fear, fear of leaving the classroom and entering the job force! It is such a big step for students, leaving the classroom and entering into their career. However, I am confident in the students that they will do great things with their life and step into a successful career!
Congratulation graduates! We at Sprott Shaw wish you all the best!!

Have a Heart Radiothon
by Fox on Apr.27, 2009, under Campus News, Events
For the third year in a row, Kelowna’s staff & students have donated their time and enthusiasm to the “Have a Heart” radiothon. The event is hosted by Kelowna’s best radio station –> Sun FM. Over the years, the Kelowna campus have helped raise over $15,000.00 towards Kelowna’s Neo-natal Unit. The money that is raised stays in Kelowna. The cause is near and dear to the hearts of the Kelowna community and we are extremely proud to work with Sun FM to help raise the funds needed. This year the event is on April 30, right in the middle of our graduation ceremonies! What a fun and busy week ahead for the Kelowna Campus!
This year we are particularly excited as we have the President of Sprott Shaw, Dean Dupperon, volunteering. Yes, that’s right! Our own president is getting involved in this cause. We also have some of our graduated students wanted to participate again this year. Not only does this event bring us a huge sense of community, but we have a lot of fun dodging in and out of traffic collecting donations from stopped cars! Giving back to our community and getting involved is something we take seriously here at Sprott Shaw Community College.
Stayed tuned for this years total amount raised and photos from the event!

Four International Students Starting in our BBA
by Fox on Apr.24, 2009, under Notices, Programs
Some exciting news from the Burnaby campus! In the beginning of April we had 4 international students starting our BBA (Bachelor’s of Business Administration). They came from the Jordanian Canadian College (Sprott Shaw’s campus in Jordan).
I had a chance to speak to one of the international students Amir. Amir who seemed a little shy was very willing to answer my questions. I asked Amir how he likes Canada, he said he enjoys Canada; and that it is very beautiful! Amir also likes how the Burnaby campus is run even comparing it to a family like atmosphere. Due to the small class sizes, because of the small class sizes you are able to really build a bond with the staff and students.
Our BBA is the first Degree program offered at Sprott Shaw! The program is designed for students choosing a rigorous, technically based business degree comparable in content to other bachelor degrees in Canada. In our BBA you can pick between two concentrations; Marketing & Human Resource Management. The BBA degree program is 120 credits, s0 four years. However with how our Degree at Sprott Shaw is structured it is possible to finish our Degree in less than four years!
For more information about our BBA check out: http://sprottshaw.com/

You may be a Licensed Practical Nurse, a Residential Care Aid, Medical Office Assistant or even someone looking to train in these areas. This is your chance to investigate employment opportunities, training and a chance to meet instructors and students. Since you can meet all these people, they can give you first hand advice due to their real life experience.
